The Blue Danube Discovery River Cruise

Discover a wealth of art, history and cultural treasures as you cruise to some of Europe’s most famous destinations. Budapest is the starting point for your Danube river cruise where you'll journey to Bratislava, Vienna, Passau and the 2,000-year-old town of Regensburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way down the Danube River, visit magnificent cathedrals and Baroque abbeys, sample Vienna’s sinfully rich sachertorte cake, experience the breathtaking scenery of the Wachau Valley wine-making region, and traverse Europe’s Continental Divide. Take an optional excursion to Salzburg, Austria, which is the town that was the setting for the classic film The Sound of Music and the birthplace of composer Amadeus Mozart.

TRAVELOGUE NOTE: Sachertorte, which is quite possibly the world's most famous pastry, was created in Vienna in 1832 by Austrian Franz Sacher. This heavenly dessert consists of a dense chocolate cake with a layer of apricot jam that is topped with chocolate icing. This Viennese culinary delight even has it's own National Day on December 5th.
