Holland America

The Holland America Line boasts one of the largest varieties in ports of call. In addition to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Canada, or Alaska, Holland America operates holiday cruises to vacation spots other cruise lines haven't even thought of yet. Places like the South Pacific, Hawaii, South America, Europe, or the Orient and they even have their own island, Half Moon Cay, for onshore excursions away from some of the more touristy ports of call. Serving an astounding 253 ports in total, Holland America is one of the exclusive cruise lines that offer a World Voyage. Regardless of the destination, while aboard, passengers can delight all-day in a variety of activities. The culinary offerings onboard are guided by the Culinary Council, which is a top-name chef team from around the world, that provide the signature award winning recipes that are featured in all the dining venues aboard all 15 HAL cruise ships.

The HAL fleet line consists of fifteen luxurious ships that are split into five classes, with a sixth being added soon, after the debut of a new ship scheduled to sail in February of 2016. The HAL Cruise Line is drenched in tradition and all ships are known for their signature navy blue hulls and white-washed decks and serve afternoon tea all day long aboard every ship. And though the Holland America Line does stick with a more traditional interior and exterior decor there are plenty of modern touches that keep the ships up to date.

Dining aboard the Holland America Lines is an exquisite experience with many different cuisines to choose from. The HAL cruise ships do have traditional "set-time" meal seating's in the Main Dining room area but have incorporated the "As You Wish" dining schedule that allows customers to eat spontaneously at any time they'd like at the different onboard restaurants. Another nice feature on the Holland America Line is the Signature Beverage Package that is available to guests 21 years and older where you pay one flat fee for all your beverage needs, per day, that includes a variety of wines, beers, spirits, coffee drinks and sodas.

Entertainment aboard a Holland America Line is top-notch and consists of thrilling onstage shows, lively music in various lounges, sing-alongs at the Piano Bar and more. An HAL staple on every cruise is the Dancing with the Stars: At Sea which is an interactive show where cruise guests can learn steps and mingle with the stars with dance lessons and question-and-answer/photo sessions with the stars providing a dazzling production show. Another notable evening show that is offered on specific ships in the HAL fleet is the B.B. King's Blues Club where travelers join world-class musicians as they perform live stage shows in a Memphis Blues platform that will have you singing and dancing along.

Holland America Lines onboard activities give the opportunity to do everything or nothing at all. For relaxing enjoy the pool or spa areas. Learn something new at the Digital Workshops powered by Windows. The foodies can join an on-hands cooking class or demonstration at the Culinary Arts Center. Or for those with an aversion to more quiet activities indoors take a trip to the Explorations Cafe, that is powered by The New York Times, which is a comfortable coffee house-style environment that is home to an extensive library, internet stations, large jigsaw puzzle tables, and newspapers for a simple morning read while enjoying fresh pastries and coffee.

This particular cruise line has affiliations with the Olivia lesbian travel industry and is considered gay-friendly. Various HAL ships have been host to several Olivia Cruises, which are specifically chartered voyages for all-women all-lesbian singles and couples, which cruise to various locations around the world with specialized itineraries, entertainers and programming that are relevant to the lesbian community.
